Just for fun, we did the 1 hour drive over to the Four Seasons for lunch. (Full access included with room.) Food and drinks on property aren’t cheap but exceptional in flavor and quality. For a quiet pool, the spa has another pool, hot tub, and separate men’s and women’s areas with hot tub, dry sauna and steam rooms. (Reserved for $400 per day.) Steps from the nearby beach, the “Beach Club” has another pool, hot tub and full bar. The pool deck has four interconnected pools, two hot tubs and full service drinks and food delivered to your lounge chairs or private cabana. Lower floors are considered garden view and upper floors are premier ocean view. Since it was designed as a premium timeshare, the rooms are fully equipped residences with living room, dining area, full kitchen, laundry, 2+ bathrooms, and balconies that would compare in size to a standard room at the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. We learned it was originally built as a timeshare resort for the adjacent Ritz Carlton, the property was acquired by Montage several years after construction and is a mix of hotel guests, fractional and full time ownership. The Montage exceed all of our expectations. Would I return? Maybe.I think I found out I'm more of a Wailea guy, but if I did have to stay in Kaanapali or Kapalua areas, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to rebook this resort. I did not have a great dinner at Cane and Canoe, but the isand is filled with great restaurants and if you have a car, it's only 15 minutes or so into Lahaina. I didn't care much for the dining options on-site. The spa was gorgeous and the service was exemplary all around. There is one very large, very fun pool and a small beach that lies in between the resort and one of the best restaarants on the islad, Merriman's. Everything works smoothly and most of the checking in is just meeting a conceirge who assists you with the layout of the land, and let's you know when your room is ready if it isn't already. The resort is laid out nicely, with a commanding view when you enter the lobby. I cooked dinner 2 of our 5 nights, buying groceries from the market a mile or so away. I don't think I've ever spent so much time in a room on vacation, but it didn't feel like I was hiding out, it was just so comfortable. The room (apartment?) was huge with amazing views which were helped by being located on the 6th floor. We were upgraded upon arrival to a three-bedroom residence in Building 1. This is a wonderful choice if you're looking for a great luxury family resort in Wester Maui. Adults Only and Adult Friendly Hotels in Maui.Very convenient for dining and the occasional run up to the general store. Loved the private transpiration within the Kapalua resort. Very helpful, always addressing us by name. In room dining food and service excellent. Also, I found it odd the entire top level of the pool complex isn't adults only since there is a hot tub and a little lagoon area to the right of the Serenity pool which was full of families and loud kids which made the Serenity pool not so serene. Loved the adults only pool but no staff seemed to do anything to limit kids access so there were occasionally kids screaming through the pool. Towels poolside were the only thing I found lacking, stained and small. Loungers around the pool were outstanding. Very private with lots of hidden lagoons. The pool is the most amazing pool we've ever seen. Coffee was very good provided in the room with a very nice carafe style coffee maker. We could have cooked complex meals and would have had everything we needed. Beautiful decor, comfy furniture, and especially the amazing balcony with daybed, loungers and large dining table. The 2 bedroom ocean-view villa was exceptional. Our new favorite Hawaiian resort by far and maybe the best tropical location resort we've visited.
